Re: Your rants here

They made it such a romance thriller (in proportion 9:1) that it was unbearable to watch. Bond and Vesper Lynd blinking contest I thought you were talking about ratios in the perfect martini!  You've really upset me with the worst clip of the worst Bond ever. A striped shirt!! That is all I can rem...

Re: Stupid question of the day

I certainly wouldn't write insane messages to my spouse and go on demolishing the kitchen or calling her a slut in front of strangers... But if you're an influential man and she's just a young aspiring woman, who's annoyingly beautiful and ambitious, go knock yourself out - and her too :-D And so, ...

Re: Stupid question of the day

If you’d severed a finger and had a mirror nearby, which would be quite likely, wouldn’t you write on it in blood? I know I would.

Re: Random quotes

I've always found Paul to be a modest person, whose self-esteem hasn't yet got accustomed to the social advancement he achieved (even after discounting for his privileged white male status - at any mention of which he plays the multi-racial children card). I'm sure he's still secretly snacking on c...

Re: Who should take the blame?

When my back-of-an-envelope, SIR- and machine learning-free predictions turn out to be correct---death rate slightly higher than the flu, but not orders of magnitude; NYC nearing herd immunity; virus very widespread in many countries; etc.---as increasingly seems likely, who will get the blame for ...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

Is "Armpit" an actual place (you often can't tell with US placenames!!)? Or are you spoiling your argument by being a snob?!!!

(And I tend to think that giving the enemy a platform can be very powerful. In your favour.)

Re: Good things that come out of this pandemic...

I read many, fairly obsessively. And then I just stopped, I don’t know why.
Maybe you grew up. Happens to some men after 50.
Then I must have grown up around 40 which I'm pretty sure was not the case!

Re: Good things that come out of this pandemic...

I finally finished Moby Dick. I learned a lot of facts about whales that aren’t true. Who would you pick as co-CEO if you were starting a new business? Ahab or Queequeg? Curious if you will read another novel soon, or if the tome that is MD was enough for awhile. If English - Lady Chat. or The Gold...
