Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

Kaufman's  "Elvis impersonation" was one of the greatest short acts. Jim Carrey was excellent and credible, but you can also find the original Elvis schtick on youtube -- definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it.
I've just spent a very happy hour watching Andy Kaufman on youtube!

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

For the funny version of that, see Borat 2 Is it good? A phone call interrupted me just as I was about to start watching. The usual Borat stuff: absurd plot, gross humor.  I laughed -- worth a watch (esp. since free on amazon prime video). As I've said before, I think SBC's comedy is an acquired ta...

Re: Stupid question of the day

Mathemticians use [$]\Delta[$] instead of [$]\nabla^2[$]. Is [$]\Box[$] not a bit silly? Unless these operators have universal appeal I would not try to define fancy names, Why not names like [$]L\psi[$] where [$]L[$] is an operator. Or maybe Greeks [$]\Lambda[$]. The question: how did these come i...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

You’ve got to try to get inside the mind of a Trump supporter! I know, I know, you’d worry you couldn’t get out! I think a scroll through 255 pages of posts would show some scattered efforts to go there over the last few years. But it’s mostly about fear and hatred. They fear an angry god, a libera...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

Caring about healthcare is a Euro thing. Americans are very independent (hence virus numbers) and don't like any kind of spoonfeeding. And I admire them for that (although simultaneously wishing there was a US NHS).  Trump's base ought to worry about his lovin' it up with the traditional enemies of ...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

Last/second Pres. Debate: I think the muting helped Trump. He went a bit mad later on, but that's priced in. Without watching, only listening, you really cannot distinguish between Trump and Alec Baldwin. (I saw AB in Chelsea not long ago. Not far from the parking lot where there might or might not ...

Baby steps. When we get a proper Conservative government they’ll all be shipped off to the colonies like in the good old days.
