Re: BlackJack game

Yes, another good answer for the OP next time around: "I like poker and I like to drink" --- you're hired!

Re: BlackJack game

I suspect the purpose of the question is to see if the candidate has read Thorp's 1966 classic "Beat the Dealer". If so, then the short answer could be: follow his Basic Strategy. This will allow you to hang out at most tables for a while with a (very) small edge, unless the casino gets i...

Re: BlackJack game

What was your answer? And how do you know it was wrong? (If it's the classical game as played in casinos against a bank then it's a long way from being a brainteaser, unless you have an extraordinarily large brain!) I hadn't played Blackjack before so I asked if the cards are drawn without or with ...

Re: BlackJack game

The first question is whether it's a classical game of Blackjack or whether it's a brainteaser version.
It's the classical game.

Re: BlackJack game

You always stand. Your two dealt cards are guaranteed to be <=21, so you always win. Now, I’m pretty sure you meant to ask a different question... Oh, and it is 2-10 rather than 1-10. Yes you're right. Its 2-10 and also what I mean is if the sum is above 21 you lose, however, your sum must be less ...

BlackJack game

I interviewed at a bank yesterday and was asked a brainteaser I didn't answer correctly.

The question was:
in a blackjack game, where we have cards:
1-10 valued as 1-10,
A valued as 1 or 11
and JKQ as 10.
You win if the sum of your cards are =<21
what would be your game strategy?

Statistics BrainTeaser Help

I have found it challenging to answer this question: Three players A, B, C play the following game. First, A picks a real number between 0 and 1 (both inclusive), then B picks a number in the same range (different from A's choice) and finally C picks a number, also in the same range, (different from...
