Currently in Ph.D. - Questions

As someone who has an MFE (and works at a quant hedge fund), I'd recommend against it as well. Stay with the PhD.

how to get a quant job advice from wall street executives

Darling Places 50% Levy on U.K. Bank Bonuses

<t>6.) The tax is a one off, so talk of London as a financial centre collapsing due to this law is nonsense. I find this to be a ridiculous statement. I work in NYC, and even before this bonus tax, I'd have told you I wouldn't move to the UK because the taxation there is so unfavorable. The bonus ta...

Temporal Asset Allocation Problem

<t>Traden, this makes sense, so risk aversion is not solely determined by age. Take the example of a 20 year-old person with no ability to work (he is disabled), but with a multi-million dollar inheritance. This person's risk aversion should be high even at a young age, because he has no opportunity...

Messages shown in reverse chronological order in thread

When I browse a thread, the messages are shown in reverse chronological order. I don't remember specifying that I wanted this, and it's counter to every other online forum I can think of. Can anyone advise me on how to change this?

Someone might tell me, "Your time horizon is very long, you should be 100% in stocks." Now let's say I have an investment with a 1 year horizon; the convention...

HoHF vs. single manager..

<t>You ask " Which would you rather work in." It really depends on what you want to do.Although it might not be that obvious, the difference between trading/investing and manager selection (what a FoF does) is quite large. I'm not so sure that working at a FoF really prepares you to do HF-type work,...
