Re: How should we deal with the coronavirus pandemic?

I can usually hear nothing, except the occasional glider overhead. (Who knew gliders were so noisy?)

But now there are children and wife fighting and screaming.

Re: Is the cure worse than the disease?

Paul, I'm assuming you're referring to the collateral damage to the economy.  I don't want to contract the virus, but maybe I do, so when the next one comes around my immune system will have some defenses?  Are we not allowing nature to take its course so then it will be much worse next time?  I do...

No! I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you! I don't care that the world is going to hell in a handcart, I'm not letting my standards slip. (I've always sat at my PC naked.)

Re: Deflation

Is it possible to have some prices rise and others fall, dramatically? We are seeing people getting back to basics. There's less demand for many things but equally possibly less supply for some of those basics.

Re: Models for Covid-19

Will try to look at link. Another thought: we talk a lot about number of deaths etc but the number of people in intensive care is important too as a person in intensive care takes a bed and also there could be consequences in the future (maybe lungs not as good as before?) Yes, but please don't add...

I just read that life expectancy rose during the Great Depression! (Although so did suicide rate.)

Re: Models for Covid-19

Thought: Number of deaths proportional to actual cases 14 (say) days ago. Say 2%. Cases double every 3.5 (say) days. So actual number of cases today will be 2^4*50 * number of deaths.  This means we have estimate of accuracy of current numbers. Divide current numbers by above. Israel comes top (soun...

You didn't need the " " around "return to" since those are actual words.

Is the cure worse than the disease?

It's not obvious to me one way or the other. We'll have to put numbers to it, and that's obviously a bit heartless.

Re: Models for Covid-19

They also have a very low number of Recovered. Maybe they just haven’t done all the paperwork for the dead yet. Bureaucracy in Germany is very slow. I once tried to get married there so I know. BTW it’s probably time to mention this, after almost 20 years of this forum, and in case anyone hadn’t rea...

How I hate all the people being interviewed for TV while at home...everyone is in front of their enormous bookshelves. Ok, you're smart/privileged. Got it. Get over it.

What would you have as background?
