LBS vs US schools

<t>My impression is that LBS masters is good for investment banking. It targets experienced people who are looking to get a boost or come to work in London. Its not appropriate for people looking to change career. Good thing is that now they have introduced optional internship program. TBH, I dont s...

Difference between front office IT and quant developer

<t>In essence, there isnt a lot of difference between the two. In front office IT you might be able to find yourself more products and markets exposure. In Quant teams, the product based projects will be carried out by quants leaving quant developers to do the systems stuff that Quants are not inter...

Interview Tips: How to not be stressed

<t>I get nervous at the start (especially while waiting for the interviewer) but feel quite confident after the interview starts. I'm more nervous when I've been out of the game for long enough (like now a days). I think preparation is the key. Get a friend to ask you some questions (both soft and h...

Getting a job with a MS in CS

<t>QuoteOriginally posted by: xploringI guess in terms of career options I was thinking of working as a front office developer (after getting the MSCS) and then moving into a trading role. PhD @ Birkbeck: Advice/opinions please

<t>MFE at Birkbeck is very poor. If you're not already working in the industry, I doubt a phd in financial maths will add much. It might allow you to get similar job in a bank (but that you can do with a msc aswell). Quant job is very unlikely with econ background. By the way, how do you expect to g...

What scenarios do you see for jobs in the financial services over 1, 3, 5 years?

i recently heard among some senior management that there is plan to extend our risk management IT system to clients and charge them for it, so if other banks start doing this then third party market may suffer a lot.

quant jobs with the least hours

jpm figure is definitely suspicious. Its way off what my view is of the current market levels and also I dont expect such a big difference between jpm and ms even with all the troubles. Its actually close to a director running a desk of 5-6 traders.
