Career advice

<t>I have no knowledge of GS so these are my general view about the industry. By doing more IT work, you are more likely to survive in the quant team (i.e. not made redundant). Let your manager know that you would be interested in some quantitative research projects and try and get involved in inter...

How to get a desk quant job if you're in the back office tech?

<t>If you have some free time, then consider taking FRM exam. Other than that I would say that just spend 30mins everyday reading economics publications in your bank. I think your background is quite good for interesting positions. You need to get out of back office IT and start getting some visibil...

How to get a desk quant job if you're in the back office tech?

<t>There is no chance of moving from IT to trading. You need to move to a desk facing IT team. You'll get lot of interaction with FO and quant teams there. Then you can move to quant team more easily. However if they hire you, it will be mainly to build tools or write code. From what you say, if you...

I've only started reading papers on local correlations so I dont understand it enough to pass judgement on it.The main reason for LC as I understand it is that it ensures that cross vanillas are priced correctly. One downside of this app...
