Re: Tesla vs. the Shorts

Speaking of "one short stops out", I will admit to an unsuccessful short attempt today. Shorted 10 shares at $915, stopped out at $945 (well, really just capitulated, didn't have an actual stop) -- so never made it 'till the selloff at the close. Oh well. Looking back, I had a nice (profitable) cov...

Re: Tesla vs. the Shorts

Following finviz the short interest in BABA is 12.44% so it is the most shorted stock. Do these stock shorting figures have the equivalent of OI in them? If one short stops out and buys back from several others, (but the stock lender is the same) does that get reported as an increase in open intere...

Re: Are you ready for Brexit?

Speaking of "Rejoining", I wonder if Brits would support tearing up the Hong Kong handover agreement -- say, for example, if the people of Hong Kong voted overwhelmingly that that was their wish?  I am not sure what tearing up any documents in Hong Kong would achieve. It was the expiration of a 99 ...

Re: Tesla vs. the Shorts

TSLA_60.png Reminds of great Gordon Gekko quote from Wall Street '87: It's not a question of enough, pal. It's a zero-sum game: somebody wins, somebody loses. Money itself isn't lost or made, it's simply transferred from one perception to another. From Jan 16, 2020 Tesla just became the most shorte...

Re: Are You Ready for Some Rugby?

I've regained my faith in rugby today. They played great. So was Johnny May. He should be playing for the Kiwis. “France can expect absolute brutality from England, we are going to go out there to make sure they understand what test rugby is. It is about being brutal, it is about being physical and...

Re: How good or bad are the pandemic warning models?

Not taking chances. Dec/Jan I went through a viral infection which turned my immunological system upside down. My blood test results indicated acute leukemia. Its either me getting older and frail or the viruses are more determined to get  us. Sorry to hear that... keep fighting the viruses!!! Ninj...

Re: Grammar Time!

I often use the American newspaper style, plenty of commas but no ands. I do this with lists of three or more, it’s rather like speaking. American newspapers do this with just two, which I don’t like. Peace, Prosperity, Friendship with All Nations. Except France, obvs. Apparently it is a Jefferson ...

Re: Grammar Time!

The Brexit coin, Oxford comma or not? Discuss.
Regardless of taste in comma usage,  "prosperity with all nations"  sounds clumsy.

Re: How good or bad are the pandemic warning models?

USA and Canada look scary. Well there really should be some kind of color or pattern coding and a legend showing how many confirmed cases and all how many fatalities and the location by state/region.  The US has about 5 confirmed cases right now.  US: Washington (state), Illinois, California, and A...

Re: What is Borisism?

I am pretty staggered that Nicholas Parsons still does Just A Minute now, at the age of 96, having started on the stage in 1945.
Ah spoke too soon. It seems we had the last hesitation, repetition, or deviation. RIP

Re: Are You Ready for Some Rugby?

Six Nations starts next weekend! Indeed. Cymru am byth! But I don't feel too confident at the moment. It is becoming an interesting trend, approaching statistic significance, of the relative (out)performance of teams coached by kiwis or not. Schmidt, Gatland, and (when in position) Vern Cotter. vs....

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

The only place I ever see rats, other than in zoos, is NYC.  I rarely see rats in the UK but I see rat poisoning boxes all over the place, often outside places like out of town supermarkets. Who clears out the dead ones, I wonder? https://www.pestcontrolsupermarket.com/ekmps/shops/allister/images/r...
