Become a pure quant from a quant developer--multisteps

<t>Thanks indeed. However there´s no regrets there. Having 2 Mscs instead of a Phd doesn´t necessarily mean I will be for ever cast into oblivion, as far as QF is concerned. At least, I hope not do so. There´s always commercial IT for retired overstressed & underpayed quant-developers or KFC/McD...

C++^H^H^HCommon Lisp For Interviews Real Soon Now

<t>There´s about 70 different languages with CLR support nowadays, just try to google Lisp.NET, Perl.NET, Python .NET and you´ll find them easily. Basically they need to compile bytestream over the .NET CLR, there´s even some specific middleware for pre-compilers in order to have almost anything up ...

VBA versus C#

<t>There´s lots of technologies suitable to embed code under COTS using the MS Windows platform. From ActiveX to DLL, COM calls and ending int with the Visual Studio Tools framework, you can do almost anything you want. It´s just a matter of deciding how much time are you willing to spend. In the ve...

Become a pure quant from a quant developer--multisteps

<t>I have taken undergrad studies in geophysics and then porsued 2 Msc: Physics and Computer Science (since it seemed better than a Phd at that time). However, I have always worked professionally as a programmer, and only recently moved into quant-development. Fortunately, I know some people who hav...

Try Visual Studio Tools for Office 2003. Excel embeddology taken to the extreme! The entire .NET framework at hand, from any Excel worksheet. Great stuff from MS Research.

Become a pure quant from a quant developer--multisteps

<t>For the first question, probably this will help. Although "quant-developers" seem to be undervalued by your simplistic statement, in fact they must not only know how to implement models, but they most surely need to understant them in depth. They must tackle numerical issues, after sorting out th...

Become a pure quant from a quant developer--multisteps

<t>nope! I mean a quant-developer (with no Phd) is unlikely to become a pure-quant! There´s no time for PHd´s by practice while working as a quant-developer, so, once you find yourself working as a quant-dev and there´s no Phd in your cv, you can almost forget about becoming a pure-quant! But that´s...

Become a pure quant from a quant developer--multisteps

<t>Quant-developers might come from an IT background, although usually they don´t, however, pure quants need Phds in highly numerate disciplines. You can be an overachieving quant-developer without the Phd diploma, but you most surely need it to become a pure-quant. Which is totally unfair, I guess,...

Becoming a quant - in multiple steps

<t>Don´t worry, you´ll do fine! There´s other people who followed the same career-path from developers to quant-developers, however the last leap sounds a bit more tricky. Quant-developers might come from an IT background, although usually they don´t, however, pure quants need Phds. You can be an ov...
