Re: Quantlib design and usage

We tried here to rewrite it, and it was very difficult. Good times and good conversations though!

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

We were promised improvements as part of the Reagan amnesty deal, but of course Congress never delivered.
Are you advocating that the US moves to a dictatorship and the removal of Congress?

Re: Does size matter?

There is always revisionist here. Mercator is a projection that is useful for navigation as a straight line on it is a rhumb line that closely approximates a great circle. There seems to be recently a school of thought that is trying to equate its use to some form of discrimination.  For once I agre...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

I think that allowing a vote on congress is a good way out the deadlock. It is supposed be a democracy after all. If Democrats control Congress, then there should be nothing to fear on the wall. At the moment it looks like two people (Trump and Pelosi) are acting more like dictators rather than demo...

Re: is twitter for mentally ill people?

I have just dipped the smallest of toes in twitter to engage in some light and consensual tweeting. Scrolling through my twitter feed it is like when you empty an old drain and you discover the detritus that has accumulated over the years.

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

I listened to Trump's offer on the shutdown. Sounded quite reasonable to me. FAIL. I thought the point nowadays was to: 1. Not listen to any other POV apart from the ones that agree with you 2. Violently disagree with the otherside, even if they might agree with what you say 3. Say that everything ...

Re: UK and the EU: In or out?

That was a great speech by JC this morning in Hastings. What an orator. He was full of praise for Amber Rudd who - despite the chaos of the last few days - managed to pass a law that ensures that pensioners get even less than before. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jan/17/amber-rudd-...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

I don't know what we'd do without the fact-checkers WaPo fact-checks Trump’s boast burgers were piled up “a mile high” National (college football) champs Clemson (go tigers!) visited the White House, and because of the shutdown there was no catering available so the president bought them fast food ...

Re: Random quotes

Can you recommend any good champagne, Rmax? Because the best I've had tasted and smelled like burnt apple juice. It was also misadvertised as brut. I prefer Spanish cava. As mentioned Louis Roederer is excellent. I am a great fan of Dom Pérignon too. But there are others out there too that are nice...

Re: Random quotes

Some men should spend more time with Nature Guides ... :D

And now back to markets - interesting times!
And some of the fairer sex should spend time appreciating good champagne, WH on the gramophone and the smell of a good pipe.

Re: UK and the EU: In or out?

Paul, so what kind of deal would you prefer? Some sort of a Canada FTA option? The only deal that the UK can take will be the one that Europe will let us have. Brexiteers are anti Europe as it is overly interfering and bureaucratic, and some how believe that this state of affairs will magically cha...

Re: UK and the EU: In or out?

Things have indeed changed. But those bad things that were predicted to happen haven't...I want the WWIII I was promised! And the bad things that have happened are because of the remoaners being in charge! You can't reward those people for causing chaos! The remoaners aren't in charge. That is exac...

[1] To be fair, Corbyn is selling the voters exactly the same lie. He has a cunning plan...SHOUT at everyone. Am not convinced. I don't even get to decide what Netflix movie we watch in my own house! I can see this being the end of Corbyn. He is very likely to lose the vote of no-confidence tomorro...
