Frankly, we do give a damn

"We found a consistent positive relationship between profanity and honesty; profanity was associated with less lying and deception at the individual level, and with higher integrity at the society level."

Fuck!

haha! I see what you did there :D
I believe this might have to do with the monkey part of our brain like the speech circuit involved in expressing danger/hunger/sex etc. They're all quite careless about opinions and rather attempt to alarm or alert.

Descartes has been proven to be wrong, i.e. one can't separate thoughts and emotions - because of the interface between the limbic system and cortex. Another example is that you perceived a newly met person to be pleasant or unpleasant depending on whether the tea in a cup you're holding is warm or cold, respectively.

Yes, the world is indeed connected in a majestic way. Everything is connected in so many funny ways it's utterly baffling :D
I also once heard that rubbing your nose means you're lying :) I must be lying all the time than

Is this what it's about? https://www.stress.org/please-meet-your-monkey-mind

It sounds like total BS to me. Monkeys are perfectly capable of delayed gratification.

Haha! Yes. But the entire focus is there's a circuit in our brain which respons with very simplistic behavior towards bad things and since we're so complex now, that part of our brain, when triggered still remains true to everything uttered

There's an interesting lecture by Frans de Waal in London in June (his latest book "Mama's last touch" is great too). Maybe you (and your girlfriend) will be interested.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I understand very well (I survived PhD studies and a post-doc). Do give us a shout when you come to London, anyway. There are interesting places for folks like you to visit for free (and even grab a free lunch) ;-)

I'm up for that and I do believe I'll be around in June as my current course on statistical physics and mathematics for physicists is going to end around 25th of June

Wait! I have it on good authority that there is no such thing as a free lunch.

I believe you, but I think a conversation is always better in person, than via keyboard
