Apparently analsystforum members have nothing better to do than compare themselves to the Wilmottrix.

However, this place is light entertainment and hence more comfortable. The other place gets kind of dreary like watching a Political analysis show on c-span or something. Also, the people over there are a little snooty( a little intellectual snobbery) and dont want posts from anyone who has not already posted over a thousand well informed posts.Sounds like a few of the poseurs over at the Analyst forum are a little envious. An open invite to all poseurs at the Analyst forum to come on over for a rumbleover here at Wilmott. Its not just a job, its an adventure.

QuoteWilmott also has almost no Canadian information - some guy/gal posted a request for info on Canadian quant groups (Scotia, RBC, TD, BOM, etc.), and *no one* wrote back. Each of you personally should look into your heart and decide if that's a plus or a minus. Holy crap, I hope the guy over there is kidding. Look deep into your maple syrup eating, tragically hip listenting, don cherry loving hearts and determine if the lack of canadian info has in impact on your estimation of the value of this forum. I sincerely think it's a plus.

I think they also got this wrong:>If I wanted an intellectual opinion on the reaction to the torture pictures of iraqis, I would look over there.>If I want predictions for the next baseball season, I would look here.so they come here for the exciting political chat but not for Aaron's baseball/football threads???

On "the other forum" they do talk about sports, but certainly not as quantitatively as we do. I won't soon forget Aaron's quoted statistic that there are 288 possible states in a baseball game.

Everyone knows that this is the best forum there is. Especially OffTopic. Every other forum is just too tame when compared to OT. The quality of posters here is truly impressive.

over there they have stupid sounding names like douchebag, whereas over here we have sophisticated, erudite references such as, err, jtipp or mike bell's mum

"just a random note, did you guys know that unemployment runs very high for PhDs in Math, followed by PhDs in Physics? I was pretty shocked by that but there apparently aren't many good jobs for these degrees."I 'overheard' this in the AnalystForum. Is this true?

Is this true?Maybe you could ask that question in the careers or student forum and see what people say. Or maybe it has been discussed already. To the best of my knowledge, the answer is no. High schools all over the industrialized world have a chronic shortage of qualified science teachers. So maybe science PhD's remain unemployed if they insist on having certain jobs, but there are definitely (as far as I'm aware) school teaching jobs.
