From one of the comments:
"Everyone, put on your thinking caps for just a minute. Have any of you ever heard this guy say anything? Or has it always been a computer generated voice? Is it not just as possible that he is nothing more than a prop they wheel out and have someone else programming his answers?"

I could see how it would be difficult for geniuses like this to comprehend a basic undergrad course in atmospheric science.

I hope that wasn't a dig at algore who "earned" a D in Natural Sciences 6 ("Man's Place in Nature") as a sophomore at Harvard
why anyone would want to hear hawking talk about climate escapes me.  He's an expert on black holes not climate. It is a logical fallacy to appeal to an authority in an unrelated field

That sychopantic behaviour around physics is strange. And in many cases the  physics turns out to be wrong.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Remember all that string theory mumbo-jumbo when they lost the run of themselves.

indeed
anyhoo, it seems that
I could see how it would be difficult for geniuses like this to comprehend a basic undergrad course in atmospheric science.
was actually a dig at hawking

Low simulated radiation limit for runaway greenhouse climates
Colin Goldblatt, Tyler D. Robinson, Kevin J. Zahnle, and David Crisp

for human activity to induce a runaway greenhouse effect, we’d need to raise the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere to around 30,000 parts per million, which is 10 times more than could be attained even if we burned all the available fossil fuel reserves on the planet

Agreeing/disagreeing with the idea is besides the point. (I personally don't agree with what he saying.) But if people educate themselves a bit, at least there could be a discussion. Right now, what could be a scientific debate, is left with arguments from idiots like the commentor who believes Hawking is not a real person and political trolls like papuper who believes every possible issue relates to his country's politics/his creepy fascination with the Clintons.

If you had bothered to actually read the post before yours, you would have realized that I injected science into the debate, linking to a paper
Low simulated radiation limit for runaway greenhouse climates
Colin Goldblatt, Tyler D. Robinson, Kevin J. Zahnle, and David Crisp

The contents of that paper show just how lucicrous hawking's remarks were

But you're not interested in science, you just want to call people names

Erm, that was your 3rd post. After some shit about Clinton and Gore.

Regarding calling names, I think a person believing Hawking is not a real person is pretty funny. You are the one who immediately started throwing in US politicians.

Like I said, it was immediately after two posts of the usual nonsense.
