that's beautiful, but pricey, so you as you say (byos) you'd have to take your own straw to McDo/Starbucks/the cocktail bar. And take the straw with you when you go to the restroom, in case the busboy takes your glass away
For those who do use it as a single-use straw, I tried to find the half-life, but google just tells me that it is "stable," so probably worse for the environment than plastic
invest in a Gold straw, you can have it for generations, the same straw your grand grand mother used, 24k slightly soft (gives tooth marks if u bite in it, but then u know it is the real thing)!
if u hang out in bars anyone could take it then make sure to go for the 99% fake one (plated):
