I’ve being doing experiments too. We put the juice from our apples in a big container. It was very nice juice indeed but too much to drink quickly. So we left it. After five or so days the container started to bulge. A lot. It was turning into cider. We drank that. Not too bad. But still too much to drink quickly. After a while it stopped tasting so nice. So we left it. After a few weeks it was no longer fizzy. Didn’t taste quite so good, and had bits in it. But it was now apple wine. I will keep drinking it to see what happens next.

Amazon sells table top stills for a couple of hundred bucks. You could get one and try your hand at making an apple brandy.

Haha!  Well, I'm very particular about that sort of thing and fair to say the men here are a protected (not to say endangered!) species.

Thanks for those recommendations. I have put the list into my iPhone - two specialty stores near here carry a very good selection of wines/liquors and the owners are always interested in new information/requests from their customers.
To be honest, pinching is preferable to nipping.

Thanks. I will look around for it.

I once bought this bottle. I wanted a nice bottle to mix fertiliser for orchids. I had to drink that first (the champagne, not fertiliser):

That is a nice bottle.

Since the topic arose today (and it was my birthday) I bought another LR Brut this evening. Why not?

Yoga class was so relaxing and now a glass of this in the hot tub.  Perfect end to the day!

PS: No, my forearm is not deformed.  Those are sinews and they serve me well.  :D
Happy B-day! xxx

Very nice Palmaris Longus you must have there! Can you also perk up your ears?

Thank you! xox

Be careful, or I might show you my metatarsals!

Unfortunately it's illegal in the UK.

Well, at least tea is not illegal.

This looks nice and ladylike, doesn't it?

and it's manly too. : )

Enjoy your days - the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, and miles to go before I sleep...

That does not seem to stop Amazon from shipping them, based on a brief visit to their UK site.

And there are things call taxes. Doesn’t stop Amazon avoiding them.

It used to be said that death and taxes were certain. All Bezos needs is a bit more research on cryopreservation and then he wins all.

Cuchulainn on the Quants in Poland thread regarding the characteristics of aliens:

Even better, this scene from Apocalypse Now on the nature of outer space:
Worth watching for The Hollow Men alone. ; ) and then this:

"This is dialectics.  It's very simple dialectics.
It's one through nine, no maybes, no supposes, no fractions.
You can't travel in space.  You can't go out into space, you know, without like, you know, with fractions.
What are you gonna land on?
One-quarter?
Three-eighths?
What are you gonna do when you go from here to Venus, or something?"

Definitely those two movies* are perfect for the Quant's Guide to Stoned Bunnies (or Porcupines, as it were...)

* Easy Rider and Apocalypse Now (edit)

But here is a different direction - a random quote of the entire poem, The Hollow Men:

The Hollow Men - T.S. Eliot

If you like this, the Four Quartets are hypnotic too.

BTW I saw the end of the "Wicker Man" last weekend (Nicolas Cage got a scorching). The moral for me is "be careful meeting women in bars at a young age".

BTW that wicker wood was still fresh .. no way it could burn.

5 February our willow gets axed.
