TBH I can only think of three of his movies, and can only remember watching two of them. Both excellent mind you.

He was deadly handsome in The Bad and The Beautiful, next to Lana Turner - at the time I thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world (but then I grew up and she didn't stand a chance).

RIP.  I thought he was brilliant as Einar in The Vikings.
What do the Scandinavians make of that Hollywood version of the glory years?

yes he plays very good in that role, cheap way to get hair cut. I have throwing axes on my farm, it is popular game on some farms still, good exercise also. Only on the thick wooden-boards, naturally all persons have to be behind the safety line (before the beer). This is best done with very symmetric two bladed axe. the Hollywood producers should have asked locals to get more realistic scene,

Not all Norwegians were heroes, but each of those who were count for a thousand men. The history will never forget them.

I once jumped on the train towards Ski, but I wasn't sure if it was stopping there. I asked people if it was going to Ski pronouncing it like "sky". Only one Viking lady figured out what I was talking about, the rest seemed spooked out. Then finally the speaker announced "Shki".

The shki is cloudy today in Oslo.

The OT naturally goes in every direction, but I will take a moment of silence to think about the victims of the Coronavirus around the world so far.

RIP Dyson  (15 December 1923 – 28 February 2020). We exchanged emails just some weeks ago.

96 not bad, and sharp mind to the end.

"We exchanged emails just some weeks ago."
What did you write to him?!

Mathematics emerged as a human language and a tool for the description of perceived nature, and should have forever stayed like so (Euler was the first who fell for its simple charm and elevated it to the language of nature itself - how arrogant and disrespectful). Dyson was one of those who think that they have the gift of speaking the language of nature itself. His famous theory of spin waves is mathematically overcomplicated and consequently flawed. A physically correct and solved Hamiltonian is in sec. 9.1 of my PhD thesis.
RIP

just something about math related to nature.

"Dr. Dyson had fallen three days earlier in the cafeteria of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, “his academic home for more than 60 years,"

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/28/science/freeman-dyson-dead.html

"Dr. Dyson called himself a scientific heretic and warned against the temptation of confusing mathematical abstractions with ultimate truth."

` “Life begins at 55, the age at which I published my first book,” he wrote '

" Excess carbon in the air is good for plants, and global warming might forestall another ice age."

Mathematics, Nature, ultimate truth - three different things. The first two probably exist :-)

"Excess carbon in the air is good for plants, and global warming might forestall another ice age."

Old and tired argument of narrow-minded climate change sceptics. You cannot take single facts out of the context, which is a complex adaptive system that we know only as it has operated so far. CO2 may increase photosynthesis to some degree and for some time, but I wouldn't assume linear laws. Not to mention the increase of CO2 affects not just photosynthesis; It dries out rainforests, acidifies oceans,...
Oh, stop teasing my inner climate warrior! You know he wasn't right :-)
