Ropes

you have two ropes.if you light any of the ropes, it will take one hour to burn.how can you measure 45 minutes?( of course, the burning is non uniform....)Alex

Light first rope at both ends simultaneously and in the same time the second rope at one end.When the first rope had burn completely light the second rope at the other end. or use a watch

I don't want to be the forum police here, but it is nice if you do a search before posting a puzzle (or anything else). This has been asked in various forms several times.

hey Aaron,Please accept my apologies.I did read lots of puzzles (and your valuable contributions to *many* of them) before placing the "ropes" up, and I hadnt found any puzzle similar to that one.In anycase, I will try to make a deeper search next time.best,Alex
