Finance Masters in Russia, Poland, other ?

October 22nd, 2013, 8:42 pm

Several American universities have branch campuses in other countries. The University of Chicago offers their MSFM Program in Singapore as a satellite program.England, France and Germany have Masters programs in Quantitative Finance [or similar names] but I can?t think of other European countries that do.Do any Masters in Quantitative Finance [or similar names] exist in Russia or Poland or other European counties ? At least in the U.S. there are substantial questions about the Russian legal system, treatment of business, and freedom of expression, but those should not be issues for such programs. Russian, Poland and some of the other countries have excellent universities esp. in math/science. Do they have their own Masters programs ? have joint programs with U.S., English, French, German universities or other established Finance programs ?

I know that at the Poznan University of Economics in Poland there is a Masters programme in Financial Engineering. This is a local programme, without connection to any feoreign school.

Bocconi has one in Italy which they say is alright, but not sure Italy's the place to be right now.

You know, a good mathematical research group in Eastern Europe is an unstable equilibrium.

Lots of great Polish mathematicians work in Poland now, but you probably don't even know their names.

Gatarek has an academic position in Poland, and why do you assume that all good mathematicians work in finance anyway?

Why should be quantitative finance different from other research fields?

Though, in probability theory Ukrainians made much bigger contribution than Poles.

That's why the West is rich and the East is poor. Maybe you're right?
