Comparing two economies

April 7th, 2012, 1:36 pm

Hi,I am trying to compare two economies - the US and the UAE. What factors, other than overall GDP and GDP/capita, should I look at to really compare the strength, diversity, and resilience of these economies?I am comparing these economies to understand which economy will have better job prospects for a 22 year old college graduate? Thanks.

The best "job prospects" factors might include: unemployment rates, labor participation rates, and starting salaries (WRT GDP/capita)"Strength, diversity, and resilience" is a bit harder but you could look at volatility and betas for the two country's stock markets and volatility of GDP growth.
