I think the real price for helping France was booting it out from Middle East?
In the 1950s?

"All we ask in return is to be able to eat our own fish.”"

u mean the fish u stole from Iceland?

"The Cod Wars (Icelandic: Þorskastríðin, "the cod wars", or Landhelgisstríðin, "the wars for the territorial waters") were a series of confrontations between the United Kingdom and Iceland on fishing rights in the North Atlantic. ... The term "cod war" was coined by a British journalist in early September 1958."

Anglo-Icelandic Cod Wars "fishing disputes with Britain 1948–76."  hemm, based on the cod war period, it looks that this stolen fish was used for something else..cheap after war food, stolen fish, with chips!

I’ve been fishing three times. The closest I got to Icelandic fish was Peel. And I’ve never caught anything.

I do like a kipper.

I did once get some Hákarl by mail order, and which I drank with Brennivín.

Don't mention the war.

At the time in London you dare not say you were Icelandic, especially school kids. So they pretended to be Norwegian.

All that inbreeding is bound to have an effect. Maybe cod is all they can now eat. Sad.

Time has changed even there, they possibly have not got to Sushi yet, but they have Vegan Cod Fish 燕麦鳕鱼. Also known as Green Cod!

They not only have sushi, they even serve it with a locally grown wasabi (not to be confused with the usual mixture of ground horseradish, mustard flour, corn starch and green food coloring).

But to Paul's point, island nations are indeed prone to inbreeding. When royals can only marry other royals, we get the turbo version...

I have a bottle of horseradish vodka. (My own horseradish, but Tesco's finest vodka.) I've been saving it for a special occasion. Coronavirus won't stand a chance.

You probably won’t be aware of this but tea has got political, yet again. A Tory MP was photographed with some Yorkshire Tea, a particularly delicious brand. The left are now boycotting this brand. (I’m drinking it as fast as I can!)
That was no ordinary MP; it was the current occupant of #11 Downing Street.
What's in a name?
