Now, make yourself a map of places in the US that you might conceivably consider living and look for correlations. To put it in Trumpian language - a lot of shithole places voted for him.

That has value, too. Especially in these days of minimized travel. It looks like it could be another year, at least, until planning a normal vacation again would seem prudent.

bearish u really need to hike some mountain tops and deep forests to clear your head?...bloomberg terminals and expensive manhattan stores with polluted air and apartment buildings with re-circulated covid air is not the only definition of a good place. It is simply called many people do no longer understand difference between Price and Value!   What should we call such a place? Bloomberg hole?

There is something to that, although you don’t need to travel a whole lot to recognize the negative correlation between “nice places to visit” and “nice places to live”. And it mostly comes down to the people.

Extreme social divisions where all is black and white, and no grey zone where people agree on one thing and disagree on another - in the old times, you just called a king from a far away independent kingdom. Today you get a wannabe tyrant in the presidential office.

Meanwhile, Trump’s total abolishment of governing (well, aside from carping about the fake news media going Covid, Covid, Covid!), will cause another extra hundred thousand deaths before he is dragged out of the White House. And that is assuming that reasonably managed states will address the problem. His flunky advisor, Scott Atlas, who might know something about something totally different from epidemiology and such just called for civil unrest in Michigan to sabotage the governor’s effort to combat the pandemic. He should be on the short list...

I'm keeping a list of Biden advisor complete idiots. First up is covid-total-lockdown-guy Michael Osterholm. His 6-8 week total lockdown plan apparently so alarmed even the more rational Biden folks, they had to walk it back by rolling out the less-stupid -- maybe even smart --  Vivek Murthy.

If you want to see widespread civil disobedience to a government order, just try implementing Osterholm's absurd nationwide plan. He has learned NOTHING from the first lockdown! As somebody said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

I keep rolling the dice. I usually get different results. It's driving me crazy.

Is there any number of Covid deaths that would be considered unfortunate by the GOP? Four hundred thousand - that’s OK, check. A million - probably fine, it’ll come with lots of herd mentality, or whatever they call it. Ten million - hmmm, that sounds bad, must be a Biden socialist plan! It’s obviously much more important to burn as much of the country as possible during the next two months than to do anything remotely useful. I’m afraid we’ve only scratched the surface of this pandemic.

are we moving towards chaos, if chaos is locked up for too long it will eventually escape back into the world!

The eternal dice keeps rolling!

I'm afraid that Biden may fall from Covid in a similar way as Ford from H1N1. IMHO, the only way to prevent it is to stop the whole corona or economic crisis fear-mongering, and do some uncertainty management. As a part of it the public should be taught that as much as it's impossible to make predictions for Corona/any virus/any exponential process (unless the margin of error of several magnitues is acceptable), it's pretty easy to predict the number of deaths due to a properly tested vaccine (and it won't be 0). The virus evolution with a purely random component is another kind of uncertainty to be aware of. Y'know, it's a little more complicated than Bachelier thought (?) when he ripped off physicists' maths ;-)

Truth is the only way to prevent the situation from turning into an even worse chaos (whatever it means). We don't have enough toilet paper to afford it!

Keep rolling 'em, I say. Rudy Giuliani sure is:

Giuliani Is Said to Seek $20,000 a Day Payment for Trump Legal Work - November 17

Not per week, per day

It made me laugh out loud and I know some people here will appreciate it too.

I met a reputation manager at a conference once. I thought he was an idiot. But the conference was great. Anyhow, he probably charges ballpark that amount, and RG will need someone like him.
