The Mercosur trade deal has been almost 20 years in the making and involves Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

However, the beef sector in Europe is expected to lose out as a result of a significant increase in the amount of cheap South American beef that will be allowed at a very low tariff rate into the European market.

The May government had expressed some vague plans of ending free movement as soon as possible after a no-deal departure, but the current regime does not feel limited to only do what is possible.

Since keeping undesirables out of England appears to be the primary objective of Brexit I don’t deny that it will be an required and integral component. Doing it cold turkey without much in the way of supporting legislation, rules and regulations would appear a bit rash.
