Re: Do you see the tail risk in tax reform repeal?

Dividend tax of 60% seems steep.
the 60% is the total amount taxed on the earnings of the corporation and includes the double taxation... it's not just a dividend tax...

(1-(1-corporate_rate)(1-dividend_rate) = aggregate rate

Re: EU-UK Trade Discussions 2020

What is important for both sides? Will there be enough time? More content for a change, less rants. Gracias. I think fisheries is smoked screens, a red herring and a cod. To whom will UK sell its fish to in the event of oversupply? And what about chlorinated (oops, I mean chlorine-washed) chicken? ...

Re: LIBOR transition

Some of you probably know, the FSB has recently issued a road map for LIBOR transition (October 16): https://www.fsb.org/wp-content/uploads/P161020-1.pdf Obviously this is after many months if not a few years of consultations. But is the industry really ready for it? Doing research now on existing ...

Re: Biden and Harris - the first 100 days

@bearish " at most a couple of GOP senators will vote for that regardless of evidence presented," as opposed to Dems who would vote before any evidence is presented! I am keen to see who will vote against party lines. Personally I think the evidence (that I've seen) is weak, so it's the D...

Do you see the tail risk in tax reform repeal?

Thoughts? Once the pandemic is no longer depressing the economy, Yellen said, the administration would propose repealing parts of the tax act “that benefitted the highest-income Americans and large companies.” The Strategas research team thinks the current corporate tax rate of 21% could be lifted t...

Citizen data scientist: B.S. or the way of the future?

I don't know if you guys have heard about this trend, where people are calling themselves "citizen data scientists." There are even some companies creating positions for so-called "citizen data scientists." Gartner defines a citizen data scientist in “Citizen Data Science Augment...

I'm better with Google than I am with Lambda calculus. Mathematics Association of America: solution I found this chart:  https://www.maa.org/sites/default/files/images/cms_upload/sir159072.gif It expresses in terms of fractions of the population: s(t) =  the susceptible fraction of individuals, i(t...

Re: How good or bad are the pandemic warning models?

I'm not sure if you guys have already been through this assumption, but one of the fundamental assumptions of models created in general on this topic, and also including the Imperial College Model, is the length of time that social distancing needs to remain in place otherwise the virus will reemerg...

Is HIME written in C? IHME I am looking into this one now and will post anything useful here. Re: Multi-state probabilities/models (MSM) and regression applied to venture capital and innovation

Would you say that MSM are between "less technical methods" and "real options"? Although I've written about real options I've never used them in practice. But when it comes to any new business I tend to start off by saying it has a 5% chance of success, and then this could happe...

Multi-state probabilities/models (MSM) and regression applied to venture capital and innovation

I am curious as to what you think the applicability of multi-state-models (MSM's) are to venture capital finance, as opposed to utilizing less technical methods or real options valuation and perhaps we can come up with some examples of next generation phasing within venture capital. I'm curious as t...

Re: Excel Price Feed Add-in

I would recommend that you use SMF add-in if you are dead set on doing that with VBA in Excel. It's free and works with multiple data sources. It's pretty comprehensive:  http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/ You are probably going to have the same issue that they had, which is data sources getting I would re...

I can only speak from experience with regards to the United States, but in acute care, they don't have to be doctors everywhere, and in some places they cannot be doctors per statute. I did business brokerage in the medical sector, although there are ways around just about everything. In veterinary ...
