Re: Models for Covid-19 - analytics

In step with Paul’s test regarding PCR tests, the question has come up as to whether not vaccination increases or reduces the number of variants as well on LinkedIn. Hear me out… 1. One guy cites polio with a sample of 1 - a virus that was eliminated. However, corona viruses are resilient and have ...

Re: Models for Covid-19 - analytics

Can someone (and by someone I obviously mean kat!) do the maths of probability of having covid given one positive test and one negative, taken simultaneously. Assume different parameters for the two tests (i.e. false pos, neg, etc.) to model different types of tests. And if you have these parameter...

Re: anyone read these? quantum finance

I read Orrell, but nothing is final enough to justify reading 4-5 books about these topics yet. You can start writing your algorithms now to use later. Watch some presentations. There are multiple designs for quantum computers currently. There is also a seemingly infinite number of rotations so expe...

Re: LIBOR transition

Well, it looks like it’s July and people are still using LIBOR. I first heard about this in 2018 or 2019. I guess it’s going to take a long time before we start seeing alternative interest rate standards to LIBOR. I remember when the rigging scandal broke out. What year was that again?

Re: PBOC website?

According to Wikipedia it is pbc.gov.cn Thank’s bearish. I’m a little late to bring this up but someone showed me a chart of the RRR and their FX rate. They were highly correlated for years and they made a large decouple. Central back announces shortly after that they are going to have to cut the R...

PBOC website?

Is BankofChina.cn the appropriate webpage for the central bank of China (the People’s Bank of China)? There is some data that I need from there so that I can avoid using a data service. Also where do they make announcements and publish data on their required reserve ratio?

Thanks.

Re: Do you see the tail risk in tax reform repeal?

Dividend tax of 60% seems steep.
the 60% is the total amount taxed on the earnings of the corporation and includes the double taxation... it's not just a dividend tax...

(1-(1-corporate_rate)(1-dividend_rate) = aggregate rate

Re: EU-UK Trade Discussions 2020

What is important for both sides? Will there be enough time? More content for a change, less rants. Gracias. I think fisheries is smoked screens, a red herring and a cod. To whom will UK sell its fish to in the event of oversupply? And what about chlorinated (oops, I mean chlorine-washed) chicken? ...

Re: LIBOR transition

Some of you probably know, the FSB has recently issued a road map for LIBOR transition (October 16): https://www.fsb.org/wp-content/uploads/P161020-1.pdf Obviously this is after many months if not a few years of consultations. But is the industry really ready for it? Doing research now on existing ...

Re: Biden and Harris - the first 100 days

@bearish " at most a couple of GOP senators will vote for that regardless of evidence presented," as opposed to Dems who would vote before any evidence is presented! I am keen to see who will vote against party lines. Personally I think the evidence (that I've seen) is weak, so it's the D...

Do you see the tail risk in tax reform repeal?

Thoughts? Once the pandemic is no longer depressing the economy, Yellen said, the administration would propose repealing parts of the tax act “that benefitted the highest-income Americans and large companies.” The Strategas research team thinks the current corporate tax rate of 21% could be lifted t...
