Tier 1 offer in Risk validation

<t>due to the xmas period, they were very slow with sending the contracts, and told me until I sign the contracts, I can still drop out. However, I have signed everything last week and am happy the job search is finally over.Either way, I'm sure I'll learn a lot, and it's a great starting point - AVP...

Tier 1 offer in Risk validation

to katastrofa:they didn't specify exactly - all interview questions were on C++, but one guy said he just used VBA, and others said: "You can use C++, if you want to."I simply don't understand whether this is an actual quant role, or not. Although all employees are PhDs.

<t>Thanks, and just to be clearer, the bank is a european tier 1 investment bank in London (doesn't leave too many choices!) and the salary is in the higher end of the 60-70k range.Just to be clear, from what I understand, this particularly role involves validating capital requirement models, althou...

Tier 1 offer in Risk validation

<t>Hi,I have recently been made an attractive offer for a risk validating role from a Tier 1 investment bank, and the position is essentially model validation, but they said it's model validation for anything that thebank is doing but not derivatives pricing. Is this an attractive role? Too far displa...

Is it still possible to get FO jobs without experience?

<t>Hi,I have recently been applying for quant jobs in London, and have found it difficult.1)Even if you make it through several rounds for FO jobs, I almost always get told:"We need someone with 1-3 years experience." and if they don't say that, they still hire someone like that. There also seem to b...

Software Companies (SunGuard, FINCAD, Super Derivatives)

<t>The interview style is less technical, that's for sure, but still a variety of questions on maths, options and basic C++.Re Gamal:I already have a PhD but not in math finance, and have pretty much no experience, just did reading myself.I have been struggling with getting FO or MV jobs, always fal...

Software Companies (SunGuard, FINCAD, Super Derivatives)

<t>Thanks, everyone. So one of the positions is to be a 'consultant', supposedly sitting between the hard dev/quant people and the sales people/clients.Is that any good for learning about derivatives and coding? Or would you hinder your future career as a quant? The companies make it sound like you wo...
