Comparing blockchain energy use with the banks' use is absurd, because it's apples vs oranges. Banks provid much more services than blockchain. How much energy does it require to update a row in an SQL database? Much less than to update a similar entry in a blockchain, I wager.

The #1 problem with blockchain is its excessive energy use - by design. It just is not a sustainable proposition in the age of climate change.

What do you mean by "hands on"? If you want mathematical rigor, it will not be an easy read. If you want it to be a page turner, it will not be mathematically rigorous.
