Re: Quant Insights Conference

I think I speak for all the newbies when I say it was extremely informative. To be clear I would love to be paid in Volatilities! or Vols? Vol units? Volarities? One of those.

Re: Those equatorial Ecuadorians

If fishing off the Galapagos is this infuriating you should check out how Cacao production is handled in Ecuador ( and anywhere else in south AM for that matter ). This is my buddy who I worked with for a time before going back to school. https://www.galeriacacao.com/magazine He's a little off the r...

Re: The Wilmott Philosophy Thread

From what i've read (probably not much compared to yourselves) system 1 and 2 seem to differentiate themselves much like painters and musicians. Obviously there's huge overlap, though painters seems to take it all in one go whereas music proceeds in a step by step fashion. The engineering minded bei...

Re: Economic suspension

Oh yeah definitely! Though will that gov authority extend to their pals at large companies? At this point it's like telling a 3 year old to stop reaching for the cookie jar. Whether an economic melatonin agrees with the bottom line is important. Another round of "too big to fail" anyone?  ...

Re: Economic suspension

The Governments/controlling entities would have to agree on essential/non-essential, and we'd all be dead by the time western countries agreed that Financial institutions aren't "essential", if at all. Those being in a fragile state wouldn't be able to cope.  That and how does one monitor/...

Not to be alarmist, but here is a concern we have discussed a little bit previously: The Workers Who Supply the World’s Food Are Starting to Get Sick - Bloomberg March 27 So you may have laughed or scoffed at my "ambitious" post a few days ago, but we are starting our indoors plantings th...

Re: Stupid question of the day

Do you think the Chinese will declare a war on us in a couple of weeks or will they decide that we're already done for? They're much more forward thinking, it's inevitable that the Chines pull a tried and true US colonial war tactic.  Gift us masks coated with MSG (preferably that in General Tso's ...

Re: Stupid question of the day

The US!  I'm biased. I grew up in Alabama and Florida, aaaaaaaaand went to public school. If I wasn't an autodidact i'd be in the military! I suppose you never considered the Navy? Where can you learn to fly, play in sports and skin dive, study oceanography? The brochure said flying and skin diving...

Re: Positive wilmotting

That's how pros do it: https://twitter.com/i/status/1241137319840800768 I have a problem with it when diving. When you dive, you experience the immersion diuresis . According to the popular saying, there are two kinds of divers: those who pee in the water and those who lie about it. I'm the third k...

A) Should I have clothes on??

B) Who's going to notice??
Your flatmate. Or are you playing "Here's Jonny!" with her?
Actually, we did decide to stage a 4 person production of Steven King's classic. Our budget is low but we have incredible talent.

Well the REAL drugs for one.

What's there to do but spend a vacation from the world in the fashion of Hunter S. Thompson.

I imagine most of the southern US is imbibing in the military trends.

Bandoliers, water proof steel toed boots, ghillie suits, picatinny rails, night vision, and a pack of lucky strikes.
