HFT IT or IB structuring

<t>As many have suggested here, and you understand completely yourself these are 2 very different avenues. At the HFT shop you will most likely work long hours, with litte social interaction outside of your quant colleagues, doing very highly abstract 'brainy' problem solving stuff. The fact that yo...

Europe trader salaries

<t>I think the MathFin should definitely help, unless companies really don't respect it that much. Having a Phd with or without experience seems to be the only way to get your foot in the door these days.QuoteOriginally posted by: OctoberHi manny, I'm trying the same by doing a MathFin on top of CS ...

<t>DCFC,I've tried going for plausible HHs as well. And tried to speak to other cats within their herds. I need to get in touch with a HH who knows that I'm not BSing on my resume. Otherwise I would most probably be unemployed or fired from my current job. Has anyone with my background (IT in a bank...

<t>Dimkin,I definitely see your point. I went to Cornell CS for undergrad as well and it taught me how to think analytically and fast. Too bad I'm not in the career path I want, stuck in an IT job at a bank. I'm trying to get into quant research/trading related work but no luck these days.QuoteOrigi...

<t>Can anyone recommend a good HH in NY for IT jobs with some quant work? I have given up on quant jobs since HHs won't talk to you about those without a PhD. I've spoken to many of them, but once you don't get a job after an interview they set you up with, they don't contact you and if you try to c...

advice needed to move into quant related work

<t>I currently work in the IT department of a large financial institution, within the equity derivatives area. I am looking to get into more quant related work, and interested in quantitative research/trading/programming sort of roles. I have been trying hard to get a job in this area, plenty of int...

Recommendations for absolute newbie trying to get into a quant position

<t>I am very interested in moving into a quant/development position. I am currently in equity derivatives IT and would like to know what sources I can read to prepare myself for a quant position. I have good knowledge of derivatives, but would like to learn more technical stuff that quants do. I rea...
