Re: Financial Modeling/Visual Basic Course Recommendation

I'd start with something relatively easy: learn to create basic mortgage/bond/internal-rate-of-return functionality. Can you compute a bond's yield, given price and cash flows? Buy some books and try youtube.

Re: Is it necessary to piecewisely fit power-law distribution in empirical data?

Not necessarily. You can cook up a density that smoothly transitions from a pure power in the tail to something else. For the case at hand, apparently on the positive axis, say

Re: How many elephants ...

I thought finding #10 was tricky. Of course, now that I've said how many, it's spoiled.
How do you know there are 10?
u can count 9, then add probability one is pregnant?
See, #10 is tricky. No not pregnant -- visible in plain sight.

Re: How many elephants ...

Boo ... no takers. Well, the answer was 10 visible -- see if you can locate them.
It’s not a trick question? Why would you ask then? I find this disturbing.

Re: Stupid question of the day

After every mass shooting, why does law enforcement and the media obsess over "what was the motive"?
It's always the same: a disgruntled (usually younger) male, who hates the world, and has decided to commit suicide.
After he's made that decision, everything follows.

Re: Random Republican WINGNUTS (or RRWs as they are affectionately known as)

Right, here were the unarmed civilians in St. Louis on June 1, 2020. I think that couple had a legit concern on June 28, when the photo was taken.

Here's a thought experiment for you. Suppose the protestors were the Klan and this was a black couple. Same reaction?

Re: Random Republican WINGNUTS (or RRWs as they are affectionately known as)

I think this is a legitimate use for the AR-15 style rifle,  scaring off potential rioters from trashing your home. So, the use case here is "intimidation", belying your point about the "sole purpose".  And, it's semi-automatic, not automatic: one bullet per trigger pull.   Ebp0J...
