Re: Biden and Harris - the first 100 days

Sergio Arellano of Phoenix, Ariz., said he had a story he liked to tell about the moment he registered as a Republican. When he was an 18-year-old Army infantryman on home leave, he went to a July 4 event and spotted the voter registration table. He asked the woman sitting there: What’s the differe...

Re: FIVE hundred years from now: can you predict the Software Landscape in anno 2525?

I switched my latest book project coding from Mathematica to Python about a month ago, and am so glad I did. While I am a Python novice, I found it was easy to port my Mathematica functionality and more very quickly.  But, what I would like to see by 2025 is some kind of, let's say, Python Virtual A...

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

Would I be right in saying Trump was a bit of a marmite character?
I learned a new phrase here.
I wonder what the US equivalent would be -- "tofu character"?

Re: Politicized science

Biden mandates that the term "alien" shall henceforth be replaced in all federal documents by "non-citizen".

Coincidentally, NASA just landed a rover on Mars to continue the search for non-citizen life.

Re: Are you ready for POST BREXIT?

The UK should have a referendum on the gig economy. Only way to get it back. That's what was done in California -- and it worked!  Ditto for the EU after they (predictably?) try to kill it also

What's the cause of this unusual freeze?
Well, of course it's global warming, according to Bloomberg

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

Sorry, but in assessing the destructiveness and importance of the event, the details matter.   Obviously, the worst thing is death. Apparently 5 died:  - Brian Sicknick, capitol police, of so-far-unknown causes (see above)  - Ashli Babbitt, a rioter, shot by a capitol police, while climbing though a...

For the 2nd question, I meant test value for the characteristic function.
But with [$]\nu=1[$] the two differ only by trivial factors

Re: Trump -- the last 100 days

Did the Jan 6 capitol rioters kill anybody? We know capitol policeman Brian Sicknick died. How exactly did he die?
According to CNN (a generally anti-Trump news source), it's not clear
