learning to use excel and vba

<t>The book I first learned from was "Excel Programming for Dummies". It's a bit embarassing to be seen with, but I think it's great for someone who is an absolute beginner. As you get more familiar, then you can move on to the previously mentioned books. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the bank yo...

Favorite finance pro sites?

<t>Personally, I'd be interested in other market-oriented forums or chatrooms with an institutional-type following. What are the most useful performance measures and why?

A manager's value added can also be measured via their Information Ratio, calculated as annualized excess return (compared to a manager's benchmark) divided by annualized standard deviation of excess returns (i.e. tracking error). Gives a measure of value-added relative to their benchmark.

Bookstores in NY

Haven't been downtown in a while, but there's a bookstore that carries half religious themed books and half finance books. Trinity books, or something to that effect, near the trinity church.

fundamental analysis for FI futures

I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but there's a fairly old book called Atlas of Economic Indicators, or something to that effect. Gives a quick rundown on the various US economic data, and gives its theoretical effect on the direction of equities, the dollar, and interest rates.
