Undergraduate Job Search

The way this forum seems to indicate, one would be lucky to get a job even after masters in FE. Trying for grad school is probably a better thing to do.

PhDs not right for the job?

<t>Since this thread was started quoting me , I might as well add something. I dont know why someone would make the claim that PhDs lack social skills etc. They might be more nerdy but at the same time, doesnt being a quant kind of have that as a prereq? Having said that, at the same time, an extra ...

my own experience with applying to MQF(MFE)

<t>Ok, so lets add princeton to the list of schools with solid placement records. For that matter add NYU too. Columbia hardly has an enviable placement record. Princeton might be awesome, outstanding etc....(to me they are all the same), but the point I was trying to make was simple. When it comes ...

Confused ?

<t>No, the job scenario is not excellent. Thats just bs. It is apparently better than Info Tech, but that doesnt make it great. Sponsorship is an issue irrespective of which field you try to get into. The H-1 quota has been cut down to 65 K and is expected to go down further, but even that has not b...

Advices given to students doing internships

<t>Its a no brainer that if you have internship experience, chances of getting a full time job are greater. But again, something I have asked before and at the risk of sounding redundant and not being answered, I ask again - HOW do you get an internship? I can waste hours and hours applying on compa...

Resume misrepresentation

<r>Hmm, That sounds fairly encouraging. I did my bachelors in Computer Science and Applied Math, did multiple technical internships at IBM while doing my undergrad, and after working there for about an year, have recently started Masters in Financial Math.Btw, Any idea if any companies hire FE inter...

Quant Finance Internships

<t>Hi All, I recently bumped into wilmott while doing an online search. Seems like a pretty active forum. I am currently doing MS in Financial Mathematics (just started this fall) and was wondering if anyone has any ideas about how to go about searching for a summer internship (Apart from applying o...
