Columbia MSFE my final update

<t>Either employers all of a sudden heard about our program or the market has really really picked up. In between finals week last semester and now, many of my classmates have found jobs. For those who aren't graduating just yet, the quality of their internships also improved dramatically: people ar...

Your figures are probably right, my 100K number is what MBAs have repeatedly quoted me. I think another difference is most of the MFE tuition doesn't stay in the IEOR department, instead, it goes to the university, that's not the case for the bschool.

<t>> Aren't we paying the same as b-school people? I think both our tuitions are around $ 35,000. Their program is longer though but then it is > more prestigious. They also get better career services as mentioned earlier.bschool tuition comes to 100K for 4 semesters.> Btw, do you know if the IEOR d...

<t>Yes, people complain every year, but eventually they find something and stop complaining. The school really can't do anything about it. It's not like they are singling us out. Facilities are a huge problem and every school encounters it. That's why the school has plans to expand all the way into ...

Ah...good question. Unfortunately, I have no idea who that person is. In fact, there might not be a person, just an algorithm. Sorry, if there was a shortcut to this, I would of told you long time ago.

What happens if by > the start of class I don't have housing yet? Then, like attentive said, you're screwed. But since this isn't undergrad, there is less hand-holding and you're e...

<t>> Ok thanks. Cell, would you know how it was decided which people were offered housing for September? I'm not sure on the details but this is what I remember: all who did not get housing are automatically assigned a number and entered into housing lottery in the fall. The results come fall determ...

I desperately want to get into Investment Banking! Can anybody offer me any advice?

<t>I worked as a software engineer in a building that (onced) houses ~1500. Aside from managers, most of us could come and go as we please as long as the work gets done. Since friends of mine at various other software companies also enjoy flexible hours, I'm inclined to say my statements apply more ...

<t>Most engineers (present company included) have flexible hours on top of decent pay. Here's a piece of info: I talked to Smirnov during a dinner two weeks ago, he mentioned that the applications for this year were much more than previous years (I remembered him mentioning ~300), and that most of the decisions have been made already.

<t>> Traditionally, has it been easier for women to find jobs after graduation since there are less of them in the field? From what I've seen, diversity doesn't seem to come into minds of recruiters.
