the tigers and the deer

<t>I respectfully disagree with the answer that an odd number of tigers means the deer will get eaten while an even number means it will not. If there an even number of tigers (n>2), then the rationale provided for eating the deer still holds. The only reason not to eat the deer is that you will get...

CDS historical data

You might also look at GFI for CDS historical data. They have given out data for research purposes with some strict disclosure agreements at no charge. Just a thought.

FRM exam - help

<t>I passed using the Jorion guide and found that it covered it adequately. In my experience with this and the CFA, I've found that the Schweser guides are the best and reading the actual texts will be a waste of your time IMHO. The guides compile all the readings into one or two books and cuts thro...

Historical Credit Default Swaption vols?

<t>You can get the implied vol using HW however you're right about the recovery rate assumption. One way to possibly get a handle on the recovery rate for a credit is to query the recovery rate swap market for a market recovery rate on the credit. Then you have a market determined input and can solv...

Credit trading expectations

15% is a huge spread and I think you may find it challenging to make any money with trading strategies. If you need to hedge in a small way and the effect of the hedge is worth then it might make sense, otherwise you're swimming upstream I fear.

Any info on Recovery Rate Swaps

<t>Thanks for the info, Complexity. I'm embarrassed to ask this question but what is a DDS? I think once I understand that I can fix the notionals for each leg to offset. The different type of RRS you mentioned is I think though what I'm trying to construct. The product should contract one party to ...

Another Cake Cutting Query

<t>Aaron,I like the alternate cake distribution idea. Most decorated cakes have differing proportions of icing over the surface of the cake. This could pose a question of the utility of icing vs the utility of cake for each player and provide an optimization problem that when solved, not only is fai...

Any info on Recovery Rate Swaps

<t>Complexity, I think you're on the right track. There are some recovery rate swap deals being done, mostly of course among the larger banks and writers of CDS contracts. What I'm looking for, and I really appreciate your answer, is some sort of methodology or a point in the right direction to find...

FRM or PRM ?

<t>I am an FRM and was told after registering for the exam that the PRM designation was viewed by many in the industry to be superior. Their rationale was the difficulty of the test and gearing of the material. I certainly am not going to do the PRM now that I passed the FRM, but given that you have...

best film formula

<t>I'm not sure if this is what you're after but how's this for an idea:(number of times rented * Cost to rent - Price of film)/ number of days in dbThis number should be rolling as it changes each day and the derivative could be used to show the progression of its change wrt a specific time period....
