Re: Speeches, Essays and other things

He had already been spiffless. Of course, a forum like this does tempt amateurs but you know they can't stay the course like us professionals. Now the forum - it's divided into four zones, you know, each occupied by a power: the American, the British, the Russian and the French. A ll strangers to t...

Re: FIVE years from now: can you predict the Software Landscape in anno 2023?

Most data scientists/ML engineers have been coding for 2-4 years. Most have master’s degrees

Re: Parallel programming in Finance

Thanks for the detailed feedback, AndreyShihov For MonteCarlo, I ported single-threaded code to C++ Asynchronous Agent library. Can't remember speedup but it should be good for load balancing I reckon. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/parallel/concrt/asynchronous-agents-library?view=vs-2019 In t...

Re: Python tricks

One optimises a Python loop by removing the loop.
sum_x = 0
for x in xs:
  sum_x += x
to
sum_x = sum(xs)
I agree.
However, my example is slightly different. I don't have a list 'xs' and my reduction variable is constructed differently.

Re: Python tricks

As a Dutch patriot, you should be all over Python!
I was the first Dutch C++ patriot in 1989. BTW I hate petty nationalism. The Danes, Norsemen and Swedes make better compilers!.

Re: Parallel programming in Finance

I would look into the full lifecycle of swap trading by extending your expertise to ADO.NET, P(LINQ) and possibly Reflection  API and profiling system throughput. And Excel-DNA interfacing. And the new-fangled TPL Dataflow? http://hamidmosalla.com/2018/08/04/what-is-tpl-dataflow-in-net-and-when-shou...
