Not all degrees are worth it....

Hey Jimmy,Thanks for your opinion. It is funny as the job offer i got is derivative pricing quant while i might get a more glamourous job as a research quant.

MBA or MFE

Go MBA if you want to be a manager, go MFE if you want to be a quant.I have a friend who chose MBA over MFE, now he is a successful manager but desperate for more quant content which is what he really likes.I chose MFE over MBA because I don't want to waste my life doing what I don't like.

To become quant I should ....

<t>Hi SergeI am sure your math background is enough to get you into the best US quant programs if you can show that you had excellent grades in your quantitative class. I don't think the PRM and MS in actuaries are necessary to get a good quant position or to get into a US quant program although the...

More working experience or more quant finance education??

<t>In your situation, I would personally accept the CMU offer. (I also received the CMU offer but I chose to attend Uchicago) Life is too short, you don't have to waste your time working for a stupid manager. With your MS degree, you won't ever need to brownnose or bullshit to get the position you w...

UChicago FinMath 2005

Great! I think I will take the optional C++ class. How many full-time students are accepted every year? How many speakers come to UChicago every year?Faculty is brillant, but does it teach well? Or must you mainly learn everything by yourself in the textbooks?

UChicago FinMath 2005

<t>I am also a finance major from a business school, I look forward to learning a lot from the highly mathematical curriculum of UChicago. I just wondered if the theoretical aspect of UChicago would be considered as an advantage or an inconvenient for recruiting companies? How practical is the UChic...
