IKOS

<t>I've potentially got an interview with the Hedge Fund Ikos down in their Brighton offices (subject to confirmation in the next few days). I was wondering what the company is like, and even more importantly, if someone can give me clues as to what type of interview questions they might ask (ie fro...

QSI, CSFB Application Question

<t>I understand that the internship is the main way into the bank at the non-experienced hire level. Everyone seems to have to go through the 10 week training that new intakes do. Even the full-time positions I undestand. Age is against me, but hey, age shouldn't be an issue anymore - it's the law n...

QSI, CSFB Application Question

<t>Just trying to gauge how I should proceed next.It is the second year that I submitted an application to the QSI internship programme last week. Anybody having experience with CSFB's interview?

<t>I likewise thought that the QSI deadline was the 17 March - so are they closing the application deadline early ? I know they can do what they like, but this is not good. Does this mean that we can still apply officially till that date but the unofficial word is that the places have been filled ?I...

How to handle Recruitment Agencies...

<t>Well, thanks for the feedback you've given me, especially the private messages - I'm still not too much wiser, but I'm gonna hassle those Recruitment Agencies till something happens ! I generally gather that HR Departments and Recruitment Agencies can sometimes even be a bottleneck in the applica...

How to handle Recruitment Agencies...

<t>Hi All, If I may describe my situation: having almost completed my PhD, I sent off my CV to all those recruitment companies that tend to post lots of adverts on the Wilmott jobs board. All of the posts were for quant jobs, with entry level experience, PhD maths, computing, engineering PhD, etc., ...

USA vs. UK degree designations

<t>QuoteOriginally posted by: kingrat55Thanks for all the previous replies, but I have a few more questions.If you already have an MSc, why would you do an MPhil? Would having an MPhil allow you to teach at the university level or is having a PhD the only way to get into academia? If you don't go in...

Quants without C++

Quants without C++

I think it would be safe to say that people can learn C++ and write reasonable code - but to be a good mathematician - now that is a gift and a talent, and an artform !

Recruiters and HH's never reply to questions...

I haven't contacted our resident headhunter yet, but I assume he will eventually be the most helpful ! As for the others, I have to say, I have no faith in them at all !

Recruiters and HH's never reply to questions...

<t>On a number of occasions, I have sent an email in response to the odd entry level post being advertised on Wilmott by the handful of companies that post job adverts.With all of them, not one of the representatives has got back to my questions, questions concerning my suitability, background, expe...

Hi JadePoisson, I can't find your last post - can you please mention again for what position your interview was for ? What's your background, age, etc. I'm not being nosey ;-), but just trying to get an idea of how all this recruitment and interview business works.
