Re: UK going to the dogs

FYI I sometimes live in London, sometimes in the countryside and sometimes in the US...it gives me a broader perspective than one gets within the Circle Line!

Was “Passport to Pimlico” on the TV over Xmas?!
Likewise. I Bunbury at weekends. I still voted stay though!

Re: UK going to the dogs

Mayor Khan slammed for turning London’s New Year fireworks show into an EU tribute That is so so so funny. Nothing like sticking two fingers up to Nigel Farage when there is nothing he can do. Most people (apart from Paul W) in London wanted to stay. It won't be long before the UK is cast off as us...

Re: Spewers of bullshit

Alan Dershowitz: Well, it’s remarkable how little history people know and how little they are willing to learn about something as tragic as that. And the result is these false analogies all over the place. Everybody is compared to Hitler. Everybody is compared to the Holocaust… Anybody who compares...

Re: UK going to the dogs

Believe it or not, Churchill got a Nobel prize in Literature.  The Nobel Prize in Literature 1953 was awarded to Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill "for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values."  Meshuggah. You cou...

Re: RIP

RIP. This has done the rounds again since Bush's passing. It still deserves to be shared as a lesson in politics and the fighting for the great good. Dear Bill, When I walked into this office just now I felt the same sense of wonder and respect that I felt four years ago. I know you will feel that, ...

Re: Quantum Neural Networks, Tensorflow, Quantum Computer Programming on Amazon Cloud

I saw something on Linkedin that I liked - this is rare so I thought I would share. If you see something written in Python is probably Machine Learning. If you see something written in PowerPoint it is probably AI. Personally, I dislike if/if not/else logic inside Python for loops. Maybe it doesn't...

Re: Quantum Neural Networks, Tensorflow, Quantum Computer Programming on Amazon Cloud

Q How much of the software approach is innovative in the sense that you attempt to design the core algorithms and load-balancing software yourselves.  Do you avoid trying to ‘piggyback’ on external  libraries to do the hard number-crunching and just writing simple front-ends (for example, in Python...

Re: Lord of the Rings Forum Poll Request

Should read: Writer wants to raise his flagging book sales as no-one wants to read his blog. What a poor excuse for an article.

Re: Parodies for Traders, Programmers, and Scientists

Some of my faves from a simpler time. I have freely edited where I didn't like the scan/metre.  "City Fever" With appologies to John Masefield I must go down to the city again, where the quotes are high and wide, And all I ask is a long position with no risk of downside. When the phones ring, the pr...

Re: Parodies for Traders, Programmers, and Scientists

We were supposed to have had the 'Best of' for the magazine's first ten years. (rmax, didn't you contribute something?) But we had some illness issues here that meant it didn't happen. If someone wants to pick the "Best of the Forum" then I'm sure we could run it in the magazine! I remember I did w...

Re: Parodies for Traders, Programmers, and Scientists

Interesting reading the thread 10 years on from some of the initial stuff. I remember writing the one in  November 2008. Was it *that* long a ago. There is some good work here. I hope Paul does a "Best of Wilmott Forums" and these get published. Proceeds go to help pay off the 39 bn brexit bill...of...
