Theoretical Math basis or neh?

I was formerly an ECE major, but have since changed. While some of the problem-solving skills you pick up from engineering are priceless; I don't think they outweigh the amount of busy work you have to do. I'd rather learn the mathematics behind finance instead of taking an indirect route.

Theoretical Math basis or neh?

Well the reason I ask is because many people on this board have gone through what I am about to go through; whether I feel comfortable or not isn't the issue here. I feel comfortable going both ways. I think the best thing for me to do is ask someone with experience.

Can someone describe what typical degrees usually lead to in terms of jobs in the business world.For example, where does an MFE usually leave you? an MBA? a Phd in Physics/Math? I understand that there's a pretty wide selection of jobs, but I think it's possible to generalize once in awhile.
