228 Jobs have been posted this month.

It's common for the same job to be posted in several consecutive months so I don't see why you translate ppauper's "jobs" into "new jobs".FirstQuantJob

Lifestyle question in quant environment

I'm following all the good advice here. In particular, I am writing the food down. One immediate effect is that I've gone a bit compulsive on the diet drinks. No calories, of course, but probably still a bit bad for me.For some reason, water doesn't do the same trick.FirstQuantJob

Finance terminology

<t>In portfolio management, is there a standard word/phrase for the correlation between transaction costs (or turnover) and the returns? It certainly seems that it should be a standard concept.Thank you.By the way, your responses to my diet issues were superb!! Lots of gems of helpful advice there. I...

Lifestyle question in quant environment

<t>Our kitchens are full of crisps and chocolate biscuits etc and cans of non-diet Coke etc.So far, in my new job (3 months old, now), I am finding it difficult to resist snacking. If I am stuck on a problem, I eat biscuits etc. automatically without thinking about it.As a consequence, I am failing ...

History of Black-Scholes

<t>In Derman's "My Life as a Quant", he says that after the Black-Scholes equation was discovered, it took several more years before a solution was arrived at.If by "Black-Scholes Equation", he means "Black-Scholes PDE", then this doesn't seem possible since the PDE problem is very simple. How could ...

<t>QuoteOriginally posted by: bbkaranHow about a forum to discuss the interview process, questions, type of jobs etc. There are some members with wealth of info here. Posting to relevant section of site

<t>Many posters seem to start threads in the general forum without checking whether a specific subsection is more relevant. For example, people sometimes post brainteasers in the general forum. This obviously makes it harder for readers who want to pursue a specific topic of interest to them.To disc...

An interview question

<t>QuoteOriginally posted by: ZmeiGorynychWhat's the big deal about brainteasers? In this particular example, thinking for 30 seconds you see that the system is a Markov chain (with the states being numbered by how many different numbers we've seen, m+1 states for m-sided dice), with an obvious tran...
