The CQF is one of the most respected and practical quantitative finance programs in the world

<t>What makes some MFE program attractive is that they work hard to get you a internship. That is the most valuable thing in my view. It makes all money worth because of this. Actually if these IB are really smart, they should have similar programs. I am sure there are people who are willing to pay ...

How much does the average MFE grad make?

<t>I do think this is a valid question. The reason is that IT does not pay that horrible either. Assuming people are willing to work equally hard, it is definitely possible to make over 200k/year in IT. So there need be a large enough pay off to take the risk of going back to school. I think 350 K i...

CFA

<t>I am not saying Quant is useless. But that is the beauty of this thing. It is obvious that you just follow what CFAI is telling you that you will not make a dime, so is Black Scholes . So is every thing everybody knows. What you need to do figure out what others do not know, do not want to know, ...

CFA

<t>I will take level 2 this June and have read all the level 2 materials so far. I do have a lot of interest in stock market. So CFA program gives me formal training on the equity analysis. As any knowledge, one needs to find creative ways of using it. It is too bad someone think it is waste of time...

quant finance professional designation

I do think you can test creativity to a certain degree as well. It really depends on how you design your test. How about all these math and programming contests? You can not do well on them by just memorizing formulas.

I strongly support this idea. I have always thought that why there is not Quant professional exam like CFA.

How to make money out of current events in the market

How to make money out of current events in the market

Extreme high volatility can not last, market tends to calm down after extreme fear. This usually presents profit opportunity.

Is it too late to study MFE?

The founder of the company I worked for starts at 59. It is never too late. If you do not believe you have what it takes, your chance of success is zero.

Ranking of MSFE program of Columbia University

<t>I always wonder if it is worthwhile to join these programs. I looked at a few courses. There is nothing I can not learn on myself. On top of that, I have to waste half a year to prepare GRE and other application materials. It should be possible to master stochastic calculus in half a year? And op...

Trader over quant?

<t>I am also wondering what it is like to trade like a pro. Is it much different from trading with my own money, just with better tools? I have tried day trading with my own money. What I learned from that is what does not work in the long term. It is a valuable experience for me. I developed my own...

Quants are dumb?

<t>I believe most traders/Sales people are survivors who has true talent to do their job well. Trading and sales are like sports. Some people will totally dominate all the other players. So these dominating individual will make all the money which is out there. But what you did not see if that 99.99...
