Econometrics in the Workplace

So, where do all bachelors and masters in econometrics end up in the end? I agree that such a complex discipline asks for rigor and much more effort and knowledge than few courses at the university, but all those undergrad and master degrees in econometrics must serve some purpose, don't they?

Thanks PCG. Sorry for delayed response. OK, interest rate risk for banking book is dealt through Asset/Liabilites Mgt. and its various techniques, and, as you say, additional regulatory capital in the future. But, I still don't understand why commodity risk is calculated throughout the bank.
