Global Bond vs EMTN

<t>As far as I know, companies register EMTN programs for comparably small borrowings, which are availible easily when needed. They can register this program and then not borrow for quite a long time until they NEED money. In contrast, the global bonds (eurobonds?) are used when the issuer already k...

Also, it's quite strange for people from math...

Quantile Regression

Haven't heard about "quantile regression" ever. Maybe you just need to find the parameters of regression with 95% confidence?

quant finance professional designation

<t>Paul, could you please justify your point that PhD in applied math is preferrable to PhD in math finance / fin engineering for those who intend to work as quants?I mean if one wants to study financial engineering in depth and breadth, one would apply to PhD program in that subject, seems quite lo...

Sure enough they are. Alas, tickets cost too much for me now, so it's not an option.. Anyway I like living in huge cities so I think I'd prefer Columbia anyway.

got an offer from Columbia, Cornell didn't reply yet. So I think I'd maybe better pick Columbia if it's better anyway, and start working on visa asap, as it can take A LOT of time.

What do you think about this university as a whole and Industrial Engineering Dept. in particular? They have quantitative finance research group there, but I wonder what's about career prospects / overall level of study? Would be great to hear from their alumni. Thanks in advance.

Thank you both. I also thought that these universities are much the same, but Columbia has a better location and slightly better career prospects and overall school reputation.

I-House at NYC - housing question

<t>I hope it's a right forum to post this. I'm searching for housing facilities for students in NYC and ran into the International House (I-House) website. They have slightly higher rent rates than university housing facilities and social events in which its residents kind of have to participate.. S...
