is quant be more valuable after years of experience.

So if one starts in risk management, then one would not get fired at 50? BTW all the GS quant jobs I have seen people interviewing recently for are in risk management.

O-1 Visa.

I am pretty sure, you can get another company to get you a H-1b, since you were counted against the quota once you are exempt from it. Ask a lawyer to confirm.

O-1 Visa.

Thanks everyone,Why can't I get an O-1 if the lawyers make the case that I am applying my EE skills to finance research? Is it possible to get O-1 with an EE company then? Is it portable like the H-1B?

O-1 Visa.

The H-1B's in the US have run out. I was wondering if the finance companies sponsor O-1 visas, otherwise I would have to wait till October to join, and who knows if the H-1Bs will be available at that time. Can anyone shed light on this.

Do employer care about whether you are in a top program or only about your skill set?

They care about both. Top school can get you an interview much easier than a low ranked school, thereafter it is the skills that matter.
