They also all live in Jersey City. Not sure what it is indicative of though, maybe they like living close to the huge Goldman tower.

Hedge fund - low salary

They might just be greedy. If it is a large fund they have no real reason to offer low salaries. Bonuses are tricky, might as well be zero in a bad year.
