It definately prepares you, but I think that recruiters consider it to be worse than MFE. So, you would be at disadvantage. Most probably, you should do MFE.

It means choosing where you want to work in the future. LSE-> IB (not-quantitative jobs like M&A) or Birbeck MFE (maybe also IB but quantitative job).
