In my case that's easy. One of my grandchildren is German.  But compared to Japan's 233 Cultural Code Words it's a drop in the ocean. is there a cure for Postdoc Traffic Safety Dilemma? There is but it creates a race condition. Would a fence or barriers help? Or maybe some forks in the road? I reck...

I had a conversation with a postdoc in Munich once about the strict pedestrian German adherence to traffic lights.  He told me of a time when there was no one else around and no cars on the road.  He was at the side of the pavement.  Saw a red light.  Crossed the street.  And then felt bad.
