IQ Test

This was a hard one, indeed ; did it in about 20 minutes though due to lack of time, with result in the lower 130 (v. 141 on the Mensa test... weird since they explicitly cite Mensa on their scale!)

Cool pour toi, cisbil! D'un commun accord, on a décidé qu'on ne correspondait pas l'un à l'autre pour ma part Mais la khôlle, c'était marrant !

CMU MSCF interview

<t>I confirm what dlescook. I did the interview last year, and everyone who had an interview then (as far as I know) did receive an offer afterwards. The interviews is very casual (had it on the phone), with questions like "why did you choose our program?", "what subject did you prefer at school?".....

Advice needed - FX exotics

<t>Just my 0.02$ after an internship on such a desk...:1/ depends on whether you are doing plan trading, correlation or basket. As a general thing, the more exotic you get, the more you are interested in hedging rather than the product itself, so you'll have to manipulate the grreks all day long. On...

DEA 104

<t>Are you currently enrolled in it or looking forward to apply? I applied there two years ago (but went to a engineering school instead) and I had mixed feelings regarding the recognition of the DEA 104: as it suffers from the competition of the MASE on the DEA side and of the DESS 203 on the finan...

Basic Sallary - NYU graduated

<r>macfly, the 55000 for analyst look quite small by comparison to the 85000... Is it a GS grid or some standard level for NY? Unless this really is FIRST year analyst (ie a 2 or 3 year difference with the associate position).Just for comparison purpose across cities, have a look at <URL url="http:/...

2005 CMU MSCF

No real techie questions asked during the interview, this is more of a "fit" thing with the director of the program. Basically, unless you really scr*w in the interview, you're in!

Where can I find I-bank prestige measure?

<t>I guess there must have been some previous posts on this, at least as to who's in for the bulge bracket. Afterwards, major schools tend to do polls as to what's the opinion of their graduates of the majors companies they would like best to work for. The issue is that often firms are not raked by ...

any advice for a trader newbie?

<t>I'd agree with exotic: do some kind of trading simulation on your own, build some spreadsheets (during one of my internships, the first thing they asked me was to program a VBA swap pricer from scratch. Easy but damn useful to understand things!), redo the ones you can find on Paul's CDs going wi...

Strategist / economist in Paris: how much?

<r>Indeed, that's what I thaught as far as Paris is concerned!! (and this only applies to SGCIB... SGAM seems to be much more flexible). Anyway, I asked for 42 basis, let's see what will come out of this, seems fair (by the way, I found an interesting cost-of-living-comparison tool which had already...

Strategist / economist in Paris: how much?

In this case, no grid as it is one of these old M&A houses and not a market-oriented bank. Anyway, the figure asked for seemed to be not too much out of line as a further round is coming. Still, any idea of figure welcome...

MFE of Oxford 2005

<t>Deadline at CMU is a number of weeks after you received your own offer so it's pretty normal you both do not have the same one. As a matter of fact, you can somehow postpone it: last year, I thaught just not answering on the online form was sufficient to cancel, and I was called back some time ea...

Strategist / economist in Paris: how much?

Hi,I have an interview this afternoon for a position as an allocation strategist / economist at the fund management branch of a major Paris-based bank, and I do not have the slightest idea of the kind of money I can ask for. Any suggestion? Cheers

Aha! Daylight Savings Time

<r>exotiq, for people feeling lost there is still <URL url="http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/">http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/</URL> (which does include the Internet time by Swatch... anyway, a reference point is still required). On the French ministry of finance site, they say that DST ...
