if i ended up interning in audit....

depends on what role in IB you would see yourself in. Corporate finance for sure would be fine, especially if backed by CFA or the like. Otherwise, try to get an actuary certification, with plenty of roles in both audit companies and big banks

Computer skills

<t>C++ (C# gaining but is more a move from C++ so taking some time) >> Java >> VB (often goes with SQL ; widely used due to ease of development) >> Access >>>>>> Minitab (never heard of anyone in bank using this... better luck with SAS or S-plus / R for stats stuff, or Matlab for more general maths)...

Murex: 2d round (interviews)

Need your opinion: credit or commodities?

<t>credit is just paper you create at will (plus a couple of big CDOs are likely gonna burst, with blood everywhere...), while 50% of commodities like iron or coal are currently bought by either China or the US. Have a look at steel, oil... prices also. To me, the guys who will be able to be long co...

SG New York

I would tend to confirm chrispat's warning; at sg, assistant trader tends to be a role by itself, rather than a junior-trader-to-become-a-full-one position. A friend of mine took such a job three years ago, he has not moved since then (position plus salary)

Murex: 2d round (interviews)

<t>Hi,After having passed the tests of Murex (for a business position, ie no programming, and would probably be Paris based), I am invited for the actual interview (one technical, one with HR).Any info on the type of questions would be greatly appreciated!! I guess there must remain some technical q...

Need your opinion: credit or commodities?

depends on the firm and the type of job. Commodities will likely replace credit as the hot thing by the end of the decade on the trading side, while prospects on pure quant stuff will likely remain higher on credit.

<t>don't worry for the networking part, this is VERY well done by the Tepper guys: in about six weeks, you should receive an e-mail giving the e-mail addresses of all admits plus a login / password to an extranet site with hints on relocation, info on Pittsburgh, and lots of foums (getting a flat / ...

<t>There should be something in Lausanne, where there is the French-speaking version of ETHZ (EPFL) on the engineering side, with tight links with HEC Lausanne, the business school where L'Habitant teaches. Otherwise, no idea as to what Geneva is worth (and I think the Olsen guys do some teaching in...

Who can fwd me Kupiec 95?

Hi,I and a couple of friends are looking for Kupiec 95, "Techniques for Verifying the Accuracy of Risk Measurement Models", and our school does not subscribe to the II journals. Does anyone have this paper or access to the Journal of Derivatives? That would be greatly appreciated!Tks
