If you are using a lot of VBA functions called from worksheet cells then to improve performance make sure that- calculation is always called from VBA rather than automatically from Excel- the functions check for uncalculated input cells before executing (Use Isempty)

The only point in going 'forwards' is if it gets you closer to your requirements/needs or saves a lot of time/money/effort.How would rewriting the excel interface in c# help?

If you create an addin (XLA) in Excel5 or Excel95 then it is unviewable in later versions, or if you create a password protected XLA in Excel2002 or Excel 2003 then it will show as unviewable in earlier versions.Note that this does not improve resistance to password crackers.

Your VBA should use .Value2 rather than .Value so that you will get the value as a double rather than a currency and you won't have this problem

using END is generally not a good idea as it kills other VBA programs (addins etc) as well as your own.Hence you may get unpredictable and unexpected errors that have nothing to do with your code.

A simple bypass is to restore the sheet window so that it is independent and then move it down so that the column headings show.(lecture on evils of megaformulae follows, or at the very least use named formulae to break them up)
