When the job description says PhD . . .

my experience was that a PhD may open the door, but without financial knowledge/pedigreeyou don't get the job. Don't worry about the PhD. You may stimulate less interest initially, but stand a greater chance of ultimately finding work in your field. It's just logical.

<t>Since we have all aired now our dissapointments with one another and society at large, I suggest we conclude this topic with feats of strength ala festivus, it being that time of year and all?I like to do a balancing act when I drive, juggling (open) mug of coffee, gear shifting, stearing and tal...

<t>I have to agree with Migally; what imaginary country 'helps' people integrate? What does thateven mean? A dictatorship? Surely this would be a disaster when east meets west. I have it first hand from several Indian and Chinese colleagues that there is no desire to integrate fully into westernsoci...

At the risk of being told to sod off, I think we make a grave mistake if weassume that we are incapable of such behavior as the Sydney rioters ourselves, given the environment and the opportunity.

Is Prime random ?

<t>Primes are predictable in the sense that the via a limiting process of analytic functions one may derive pi(x),the prime density. This in turn depends upon establishing zeros of Riemann's zeta function, the subject of thefamous (as yet unproved) ERH which says that all complex zeros have real par...
